Flowcrete Showcases Green Screeds that Supersedes Traditional Flooring Technology at Ecobuild 2016

02 Feb 2016

  • Flowcrete UK will be demonstrating its high performance resin floor finishes at Ecobuild 2016.
  • Isocrete Alpha Screed is designed to allow for large quantities of screed to be installed en-masse.
  • Floorzone package includes highly decorative resin finishes such as the Mondéco range.
  • Isocrete Alpha Screed is the latest addition to the award winning Green Floorzone.
  • Isowarm underfloor heating system and Isocrete Acoustic K-foam also part of new Floorzone.

On stand E6040 of Ecobuild 2016, Flowcrete UK will be demonstrating why its range of high performance resin floor finishes and sub floor screeds have been utilised by some of the nation’s most high-profile developments.

In particular, the resin flooring manufacturer has recently provided materials for several skyline-changing projects in the capital, including at Embassy Gardens, London City Island and its solutions have even been specified for the currently on-going Royal Wharf development.

One of the key reasons that Flowcrete UK has been the flooring partner for so many large-scale industrial and commercial projects is its ability to innovate and adapt to the construction industry’s evolving demands. This includes its commitment to providing solutions that meet today’s strict environmental standards without sacrificing on quality and long-term functionality.

For example, the fast drying Isocrete Alpha Screed and the way it is applied have both been designed to allow for large quantities of screed to be installed en-masse, with multiple, large pours capable of being undertaken over a short period of time. Flowcrete UK’s mixing facilities make it uniquely placed to provide screed material throughout the London area on any day of the week, allowing it to deliver materials at a time that best suits the construction project.

Yet this solution is one of the greenest screeds on the market thanks to the fact that 95% of the alpha hemi-hydrate calcium sulphate binder used in the Isocrete Alpha Screed system is reclaimed from an industrial by-product, reducing the amount of environmentally harmful waste sent to landfills.

The ability of the pump applied, self-levelling Isocrete Alpha Screed to quickly provide a robust, laitance free layer within exceptionally large developments has made it the go-to screed of choice for major development companies, including the Ballymore Group.

The Ballymore Group started using Isocrete Alpha Screed when it needed a reliable screed that could be installed within a tight time schedule at its Embassy Gardens project, a 2,600,000 sq ft mixed-use site adjacent to the new US embassy in London. The urban regeneration leader was so impressed by the thick, level screed that was installed, despite difficult installation conditions, that it chose Isocrete Alpha Screed for the London City Island project, which involved installing 2,000m2 of screed per week.

Isocrete Alpha Screed is also one of the latest additions to Flowcrete UK’s award winning Green Floorzone solution, a flooring concept that allows developers to source every element of the floor build up from one supplier and under one warranty.

The comprehensive Floorzone package includes highly decorative resin finishes such as the seamless resin terrazzo Mondéco range, environmentally friendly screeds , the ultra-energy efficient Isowarm underfloor heating system and even the noise reducing Isocrete Acoustic K-foam .

Flowcrete UK has recently reformulated its self-levelling screeds to provide a number of enhanced properties, including being even quicker to mix and apply, cutting down on dusting during mixing as well as improving its curing process, finish, flatness and stability at low temperatures.

Flowcrete UK’s Managing Director, Kevin Potter, said: “We’re always looking to develop our solutions to ensure that they meet the construction industry’s complex requirements. This means that we constantly evaluate our finishes, screeds and subfloor components to get the perfect balance of functionality and application practicality while limiting any environmental impact.

“Being chosen for several of Ballymore’s projects is a testament to the capacity of our systems and application network to quickly deliver and install large quantities of flooring material without compromising on quality.”

Flowcrete UK has analysed its products and manufacturing processes in order to make its solutions more environmentally friendly. This has led to limiting the use of substances such as Ordinary Portland Cement and sand as well as supplying its products in UN Certified Intermediate Bulk Containers to reduce packaging waste.

The durability of Flowcrete UK’s resin systems also provides end users with green benefits, as the longevity of its floors avoids the environmental damage incurred by a subsequent floor installation. Hidden beneath the floor finish, the Isowarm underfloor heating system also works to considerably enhance a site’s eco-credentials, as it is able to provide targeted, heat 30% more efficiently than traditional heating techniques.
