Flowcrete UK took home a coveted prize at the FeRFA Best Practise Awards 2016, winning the Highly Commended Small Industrial Project category in partnership with Resin Coating Specialists.
The award, presented during a glittering ceremony held in the Woodlands Suite of the Belfry Hotel, was in recognition of a flooring project at Larton Livery, located in Frankby on the Wirral peninsula, which was building a new, high-end cattery.
Larton Livery’s owners knew that they needed a high performance flooring solution in order to maintain a clean and attractive appearance despite the multiple hygiene difficulties inherent to a cattery facility. It was also important that the floor’s colour and design would impress clients visiting the site and emphasise the high quality service that Larton Livery prides itself on delivering.
To achieve this, Flowcrete UK supplied 180m2 of Flowfresh SL and 210m2 of Flowshield FX, which was installed by Resin Coating Specialists over the course of a week. The cream coloured Flowfresh SL coating was applied across the cattery area while Flowshield FX was used to create a black walkway around the room. The decorative walkway was an important part of the project, in order to deliver the wow-factor underfoot.
Intensive foot traffic, frequent cleaning and feline habitation would be the main challenges facing the floor, all of which could take a toll on its colour and integrity, lessening the floor’s visual impact, cleanability and safety value over time. The robust characteristics of Flowcrete’s industrial flooring range meant that Larton Farm Cattery’s new finish would not deteriorate when faced with the realities of daily use.
Larton Livery knew that a rigorous cleaning regime would be required, especially for contamination prone areas such as underneath the animal cages. The seamless and impervious nature of the chosen finishes was ideal, as any contaminants can be quickly and easily removed from the area. The antibacterial agent Polygiene® is incorporated within every Flowfresh floor, this additive is proven to inhibit the growth of most types of harmful bacteria, including the Parvovirus and MRSA.
Prior to installing the floor, numerous bespoke samples and consultations were provided in order to tailor the project to the client’s budget and time frame as well as ensure that the work could fit in with other on-site contractors.
The Resin Coating Specialists installed over 400m2 of specialist resin flooring solutions at the new cattery in only one week! This provided the client with a high performance finish within a very short turn around, which allowed Larton Livery to quickly get on with the job of finishing the cattery and opening up for business.
Over 250 guests attended the highly regarded industry event, which celebrates workmanship, diversity, innovation and commitment to quality and training by FeRFA members.
