The historic site in Cape Canaveral, Florida was formerly a Chrysler building which had worked on NASA’s Apollo and Mercury missions, however it was in dire need of renovations.
Flowcrete secured the project despite stiff competition from multiple suppliers and it had to overcome various challenges throughout the installation process to ensure that the floor was completed on schedule.
On site Flowcrete’s approved applicator had to cope with no utilities, numerous holes in the walls and plumbing contractors that were putting in new trenches while the substrates were being prepared.
12,000 sq ft of Flowcrete’s cementitious urethane floor system, Flowfresh SRQ was installed in a custom blend kitchen-red color within the main production and bottling area thanks to its antimicrobial, chemical resistant and hard-wearing properties.
7,000 sq ft of the epoxy resin floor coating Flowcoat SF41 HCS was also laid in the brewery’s tank fermentation area in a bright safety-yellow shade. In the storage and packing section of the building 20,000 sq ft of Flowcoat SF41 HCS was installed in a light gray color. This ultra chemical resistant epoxy resin system is ideal for manufacturing environments and can incorporate anti-slip aggregates for added on-site safety.
The client required the floor to be functional and long-lasting yet also visually appealing for visitors to its brewery tours and was therefore delighted with the end result as Flowcrete more than matched their project and budget requirements.
