When Waitrose needed a water-proof system for their new multi-storey car park in Ashford, Kent, Deckshield Rapide ED from Flowcrete was the perfect solution.

With a life expectancy of around 10 years, the products not only met the requirements in terms of a system which was hardwearing, but also provided a bright and colourful, waterproof finish for use over the exposed deck of the multi-storey car park.

The top deck of a car park is open to the elements and subject to extreme temperature and weather changes throughout the year, this together with natural chemicals and oil and dirt from vehicles can lead to movement, corrosion and cracking of the surface and potential structural failure. 

Deckshield Rapide ED is a solvent free methyl methacrylate car park deck coating system with the flexibility to bridge cracks effectively and provide protection to the concrete substrate, helping eliminate these potential issues.

Clear markings on the finished surface define the standard, disabled and child friendly parking bays whilst  pedestrian walkways make the car park a safer and brighter place for people to visit.

The final result left Waitrose with an eye catching car park which enhanced the shoppers experience when arriving at the new store in Kent.
